UFC San Antonio Delivers! Cory Sandhagen Wins No-Brainer Decision Victory

UFC San Antonio delivers a lowkey banger of a card tonight March 25, 2023. We started off with an exhilarating prelim card that would have fans hyped by the halfway mark. Fans got the fight of the night early in CJ Vergara vs Daniel Da Silva. These hard-hitting warriors decided to keep this match standing and would use their kickboxing back and forth. The crowd was shocked as strikes could be heard even with all the mayhem. Vergara wins via knockout in the second round.

I was having Rocky vibes watching the last prelim match as Steven Peterson leaves it all in the ring for his last outing vs Lucas Alexander. Peterson had his moments in the beginning but would start accumulating damage as the match went on. Although he preserved as he fought in rounds 2 and 3 he could not keep up with the younger fighter. When it was all said and done Peterson said he was ready to hang it up and transition into a mentor/coach role.

For the performance of the night, we have 2 winners and Daniel Pineda really made waves tonight with his submission win over his opponent in the middle of the second round. Daniel's octagon interview introduced him to many fans tonight and we'll most likely see him on a more high-profile card next time.

"I'll be damned if i aint handsome"

In the main event, Chito Vera gets tactically dismantled by Cory Sandhagen. Many did not see the match being so one-sided but Cory came in with a great game plan and executed it perfectly. You could say the match was 3-2 but many would probably say 4-1. Chito could not get his striking rhythm against a very slick Sandhagen. Cory Sandhagen was elusive and unpredictable. You could tell "Chito" was expecting a straight boxing match but his opponent mixed everything up nicely scoring takedowns when he wanted and had Vera in bad positions multiple times through this match. Sandhagen leaves us with the quote of the night for a fellow contender who had a great performance weeks ago Merab:

"I Got Something For You To Eat And It Don't Taste Too Good"
