The final card before the legendary UFC 300 Card was a card to remember. With a rematch between Chris Curtis and Brendan Allen with some high rankings on the line. Let's jump into the Main Card and dive deeper into the fights.
To start the Main Card, we have Charlie Campbell facing off against Trevor Peek. This was a great display of all types of martial arts with both men displaying their skills to their fullest capacity. The first round went back and forth on the feet with Campbell winning most of the exchanges and landing clean strikes. The second round opened with huge punches being thrown back and forth, then with good cage and back control from Campbell. The third round was a dominant display of all forms by Campbell and took it to the end of the third round. The judges favored Campbell 30-27 across the board.
The next fight was between Ignacio Bahamondes and Christos Giagos. This fight did not last very long, as Bahamondes was landing good kicks to all levels. It was a matter of time until he landed one to end the fight, and it came from a southpaw roundhouse kick that came with a walk-off knockout.
The fight before the Co-Main-Event was between two former cage warrior opponents Morgan Charrière and Chepe Mariscal. The first round had back-and-forth control time with takedowns being thrown across the board and landing. Mariscal came out on top at the end of the round. In the second round, Charrière was looking very relaxed and was landing good shots with kicks being thrown by both men and landing. the third round showed off Mariscal's talent with his hands-of-stone boxing style. There were many good moments from each man and it took the fight to a decision with Mariscal just winning by split decision.
The co-main event was between Alexander Hernandez and Damon Jackson. There was a lot of movement to start the fight, with a lot of kicks landing. A great display of takedown defense showed when Hernandez's kick was caught and avoided getting taken down. The second round looked just as good with the two exchanging boxing combinations and landing good, clean strikes. The round ended with Jackson taking the back and ending the round in back control. The third round opened with a massive right hand from Hernandez to take him into full mount and ended the fight with good clinch strikes until the final bell. Yet another split decision win and it went to Jackson.
The Main Event was one we were all excited for here at Fighting-Yo. Chris Curtis fought Brendan Allen again and it was a great fight. Chris Curtis was the only man to beat Allen within the past 3 years, and Allen was on a 6 fight-win streak looking to make it 7. The first round showed how far Allen has come with him landing a takedown on Curtis who had a 97% takedown defense. The two got up and finished the round on the feet. The second round showed Allen's striking with good, quick, and accurate strikes cutting through the defense. There was a strong display of striking to close the round. Round three showed more boxing and then Curtis stunned Allen with a punch, which Allen countered with a takedown which led him to gain backpack control for the rest of the round. The fourth round had a lot of scrambles with Allen taking down Curtis multiple times. The final round had a lot of desperation takedown attempts from Allen and occasional success with huge strikes being thrown. The end of the round had an all-out finish with Curtis clutching his right hamstring. Allen won the fight Via Split Decision.
What a card to lead up to UFC 300, we cannot wait any longer. Thank you, guys, for reading, and I will catch you on the Punchline this week.
