Shakur Stevenson Lacking Motivation?
Shakur Stevenson is coming off a performance that I don't think anyone will try to remember. In the fight, Stevenson showed his speed and reflexes are next levels but as a counter puncher one's job is to make them miss and make them pay, let's say De Los Santos got off cheap. Neither man had double-digit punches in any round but Dos Santos pushed the pace for the entirety of the fight and later said Shakur came to run track.
I know fighters saw that Shakur had many opportunities that he didn't take in every round but what could be the cause for that? One thing was for sure, De Los Santos can punch!

After the fight, Shakur went on to say he wasn't feeling "good" and he knew before the fight if he continued to feel that way he would just try to box and survive. As he walked away from the ring De Los Santos went on to say "He was gifted the title tonight" and asked for a rematch. Shakur will take a break for the holidays but doesn't seem motivated to make a difference. Stevenson didn't feel comfortable calling any fighters out either showing the crowd that he too was not happy about his performance. Now a 3 division world champion he may try to unify belts in those divisions or maybe we'll finally get the fights that we really want to see him in. MAYBE, Shakur did this on purpose to make other fighters think they could beat him and take the fight.
The fight of the night was undoubtedly Navarrette vs Conceicao by the way and if you haven't seen that you should go watch it on YouTube. A fight that really had fans going back and forth for a while.

Navarrette shows he is a different type of beast in this fight and it once again proves muscles don't assure you the win in boxing. Conceicao should get credit for throwing beautiful punches and landing some good highlight material but Navarrette's never-ending pressure made it impossible for him to keep up. Conceicao was also knocked down twice in the match but somehow this fight was ruled a draw at the end. Personally, I ruled it for Navarrette but I can see why judges did this and I've said with other matches, it's not fair to give someone a loss on very close matches. A rematch between these two would be main event material and the fans can't wait to see it either.
