Karate Combat, the innovative martial arts league, recently held an electrifying event in Miami that saw a spectacular match-up between fighters Bruno Souza and Bruno Assis. The fight was so closely contested that a "sudden victory" had to be fought to determine the winner, with Souza emerging victorious.
However, the drama didn't end there, as lightweight champion Luiz Rocha approached Souza after the fight, leading to a tense exchange of words and a shove between the fighters. Now they're slated as the main event in the upcoming Karate Combat 39!

It may come as a surprise to some, but Bruno Souza has a pedigree that can be traced back to the Machida family, who are considered to be martial arts royalty. In fact, Souza's sensei is none other than Lyoto Machida, a former UFC and Bellator veteran, as well as his brother Chinzo Machida. With such a esteemed martial arts family guiding his training, it's no wonder Bruno Souza has emerged as one of the top fighters in Karate Combat.
It's worth noting that Luiz Rocha, the current champion in Karate Combat, has also been trained by starfighter in his own right: Bellator Featherweight Champion Patricio Pitbull. Although Patricio added Karate to his skillset later in his career, it proved to be a key factor in his success, and having him as a mentor has undoubtedly been a huge asset for Rocha. With Pitbull's guidance, Rocha has developed into a formidable fighter, capable of holding his own against some of the best in the world. As the reigning champion in Karate Combat, he will undoubtedly be looking to defend his title with everything he's got, drawing on the wisdom and expertise of his mentor to help him succeed.
