BYB Extreme: A New Era Begins with the Historic Police Gazette World Diamond Belt and an Explosive Upcoming Card
BYB Extreme Fighting Series, the world's largest bare-knuckle fighting organization, has made a monumental move by acquiring the historic Police Gazette World Diamond Belt. Following BYB's merger with Europe's BKB earlier this year, this acquisition solidifies BYB's position as the dominant force in the bare-knuckle fighting world, domestically and internationally.
The Police Gazette World Diamond Belt, dating back to 1881, is recognized as the first title belt in combat sports history. From John L. Sullivan's capture of the belt in 1882 to his legendary 75-round battle against Jake Kilrain in 1889, the belt symbolizes the very essence of championship prizefighting. As part of BYB's ongoing efforts to unify titles after the BYB-BKB merger, this historic belt will be recognized as the BYB World Championship, beginning in September 2024.
BYB CEO Greg Bloom emphasized the significance of this acquisition, stating,
"Fighters looking to make their name in bare-knuckle fighting now only have one place to go to fight for the oldest championship belt in all of combat sports, and it’s for the largest bare-knuckle fighting organization on the planet, BYB."
This monumental acquisition not only underscores BYB's dedication to preserving the history of bare-knuckle fighting but also sets the stage for the sport's future under one banner. Bare Knuckle Boxing Hall of Fame President Scott Burt, who has overseen the distribution and preservation of the Police Gazette Diamond Belt since 2016, expressed his excitement:
"This has been Richard K. Fox's dream, and my dream, for all these years, to have the best fighters in the world fight under one roof."
